Junior Church, for children aged up to 16, meets in the Family Room during the 10.30 am Sunday service for most of the year. At major festivals such as Easter, Christmas, Harvest and Mothering Sunday we join the rest of the congregation and often play a part in the service. We take our summer break during August though provision is always available for children.
The aims of our hard working leaders, all of whom are fully trained and hold the required Safeguarding and DBS certificates according to our safeguarding policy, are to introduce the children to the teachings of Jesus and to the concept of attendance at church. We pray and sing together at the beginning of our session and we rejoin the congregation towards the end of the service and give our much appreciated feedback.
At Harvest we prepare cards for the sick of our congregation and in local care homes.
At Christmas we dress our large Christmas Tree with Christian symbols as our contribution to our Christmas Tree Festival and our Nativity play, which involves all of our children, is presented on the Sunday before Christmas.
At various times we have special activities. For example on Mothering Sunday we take part in the service and present flowers to mothers in church.
In September we plant bulbs in the churchyard to flower in the following Spring. We also plant Sunflower seeds so that they bloom for Harvest Sunday.
We have a picnic in church and a trip out in February and on our last session in July, we have a Fancy Dress session and activities and picnic in the churchyard.
We welcome new children to join us at any time.
